Whether they’re organic, cage-free or from your local farmer’s market, it is outrageous how much people expect to pay for these little guys. But before we cry over spilt egg yolks and demand change (or at least a discount), there are some reasons why eggs should cost less that have been proven in recent studies. 1) “Eggs provide substantial amounts of critical nutrients such as choline and selenium.” 2) Eggs are more affordable than ever because production costs have decreased drastically since their peak in 2014. 3) The demand for eggs has gone down so significantly that the price is more than reasonable. If you’re still not convinced, then here are 12 reasons why your eggs should cost less: -Eggs provide substantial amounts of critical nutrients such as choline and selenium. -The demand for eggs has gone down so significantly that the price is more than reasonable. -Cage free hens produce fewer eggs because they live in a larger space with grass to run on (thus reducing food costs). -Cage free hens lay healthier cholesterol rich yolks which can sell at higher prices because some people believe these are safer to eat from them being organic or cage-free. -“Conventional” chickens have been bred over time
