The earliest known musical performance by an ensemble that resembles what we now consider a chorus was one sung during the rites of Apollo on December 27th 195 BC near Mount Lykaion in Arcadia (southern Greece). This type of vocal arrangement appears to have been developed just before this time period, though it would take another thousand years.
