It’s hard to be you. It’s hard to be the best version of yourself and face criticism, judgement, and comparison every day. But it is not impossible. You have to take risks in order to grow into who you want to be even if that means being different from everyone else around you.
A girl should be two things: who she wants to be and what she wants. She can’t do that until she has the courage to break free from societal expectations, which are often based on stereotypes or assumptions about her gender. A girl is also not a princess waiting for her prince charming; a woman’s worth does not come down to whether or not someone else approves of how well they’re living up to outdated notions of femininity.
Girls have been told all their lives from books, movies, TV shows, magazines that in order for them to live happily ever after with some random man (who isn’t even real!), they need love advice from celebrities and social media influencers because these are women who’ve “got it together”.
