Brain hearing technology allows us to hear sounds that are too complicated to be heard by our ear, but which we can still feel. It senses sounds that we can’t hear physically. Sounds and their timings can be detected and understood, allowing us to better tune in to the sounds coming out of our ear and get ourselves in the right mental state. The technology has been around for a few years, and there are a number of studies that have shown how it helps the brain process information.

It’s a weird thing to think about, but I think a real world version of the technology might help with the rehabilitation and recovery of amputees. I mean, it’s not exactly like you’re going to have your hand raised in front of your face and it’s a “real world” situation, but I do think it would benefit amputees who want a less mechanical prosthesis. Plus, I also think it’s more fun to imagine than to actually see it.
