It could. The space you’ll be sharing is a nice, comfortable room, but it’s really not your own space. And, even if your roommates are nice and friendly, you shouldn’t assume you’ll be comfortable there. The fact that it works for you suggests that it’s going to be an adjustment for you.
Theres a couple of ways to make the room a little more your own. First, you can try to get your roommates to use it with you, but if they’re not willing to be that much of a human being, you could create a “sanity space.” This is where you can go to get away from the chaos of your own living space. You can also try to create a space where you feel like you are doing something more productive.
We live in a weird space that we feel is our own and that we have to deal with. For instance, we have a really big, beautiful, well-lit apartment with a huge kitchen with a lot of counter space and countertops and a huge dining room. We never use it, but we like it that way. If we had to do it all over again, we would change all our furniture. We would get rid of the countertops in the kitchen.
