Kirk-Othmer is a professional writer that does a lot of interesting things, and his Wikipedia is pretty extensive. While I’ve always been a fan of his writing, I think that his encyclopedia is the best one available. It covers everything from natural gas, to nuclear, to chemistry, to robotics. It also covers space, the most advanced science, and everything else that Kirk-Othmer touches on.
Now that Ive spent the last few days talking to him, I think that Kirk-Othmer deserves a full Wikipedia article of his own. I’m sure there are tons of other great articles available for him, but a full page in Wikipedia is a good place to start. It should be noted, however, that Kirk-Othmer is a little old for a Wikipedia page, as he’s been around for a few more than 30 years.

Kirk-Othmer is also a scientist specializing in geochemistry, so it’s no surprise that his list of periodic table elements includes things like potassium, zinc, silicon, silver, and copper. The list also includes radioactive elements, so it’s no surprise that Kirk-Othmer also includes “radioactive elements.
Kirk-Othmer is also a member of the Chemical Society, so the list of periodic table elements he writes about in his book is also a good deal more up to date than ours.
Kirk-Othmer is also the author of a book about geochemistry, so not only is his list of periodic table elements highly up to date, it comes with tons of references. We may not have the same periodic table as Kirk-Othmer, but we do have a wealth of chemical research to draw from.
This is one of those situations where the author’s own research gives him a lot of knowledge and insight into what chemicals actually do. It’s not like Kirk-Othmer doesn’t know a little bit about chemical engineering, but he doesn’t have any way of knowing what chemicals actually do. He’s just out there doing research, looking for new elements and new reactions.
